Other office waste recycling

TONER CARTRDIGE RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL
Laser toner and fax cartridges are increasingly being disposed of at landfill sites in huge quantities. These products are non-biodegradable and cause a slow release of contaminating powder residues into our soil.

Here at Karraway we offer an environmentally friendly way of recycling toner cartridges, thus removing these contaminants from your general waste stream. In fact some toners cartridges have a nominal residual value which we would be happy to discuss with you.

To help you start a toner cartridge recycling scheme, we will provide all you need to get you started including containers for storing used cartridges and fact sheets to maintain records of your toner usage and how best to benefit from it.

ALUMINIUM CAN RECYCLING
Recycling one kilogram of aluminium can save about 8 kilograms of bauxite, 4 kilograms of chemical products and 14 kilowatt hours of electricity.

Anything made of aluminium can be recycled repeatedly: not only cans, but aluminium foil, plates and pie moulds, window frames, garden furniture and automotive components are melted down and used to make the same products again. Used aluminium cans can be recycled to make new aluminium cans, aluminium windows can be recycled to make new aluminium windows. The recycling rate for aluminium cans is already above 70% in some countries.

There are a variety of recycling bins, each of which holds a plastic liner to prevent spillage of left-over drink. Unlike many other systems, no effort is required to separate steel cans from aluminium drinks cans. All drinks cans, both steel and aluminium can be placed into the recycling bin. Collections are made on a fixed schedule or on an ad-hoc basis.

PLASTIC CUP RECYCLING
Plastic generally takes up to 500 years to degrade if it is disposed of in a landfill site. Modern techniques mean that plastic can be recycled into a variety of products including garden furniture, flower pots, pencils and new packaging materials.

By recycling used hard-walled plastic vending cups, you can reduce waste disposal costs and help the environment.
